Oblivious is a Dublin AI company focused on extracting value from sensitive data without ever seeing the data itself. The company describes its work as “secure data collaboration through privacy-enhancing technologies,” and the name carries the same idea: “to remain oblivious to the sensitive details.” Its products bring together two foundational approaches in privacy-enhancing technologies (PETs).
Founding and Founders
Oblivious was founded around 2020 by Jack Fitzsimons and Robert Pisarczyk. Both founders hold Oxford PhDs, and the company is an academic spin-out of the University of Oxford’s Oxford Foundry. On the company’s own about page, Jack is described as bringing the academic and software-engineering foundation, while Robert brings deep expertise in cryptography.
The company moved its HQ to Dublin and is now based at NovaUCD, the technology incubator on the UCD Belfield campus. The legal entity is registered in Ireland as Oblivious Software Ltd. The DNA is academically tied to Oxford and operationally based in Dublin.
On the Public Record: Products, Funding, Community
Oblivious builds two core products. OBLV Deploy is a confidential computing layer built on secure enclaves, which are hardware-isolated processing environments. The product description on the company’s site notes that it “does not require modification to your development process or CI/CD pipeline.” AGENT applies differential privacy directly to analytics workflows, so data scientists and machine learning models can work on sensitive data with the mathematical guarantee that no single individual can be identified.
Community work in Dublin centres on the Eyes-Off Data Summit, the annual PET conference organised by Oblivious. The inaugural edition took place at EPIC, the Irish Emigration Museum in the Docklands, in 2023; the 2024 and 2025 editions ran in central Dublin. At the 2024 summit, Ultan O’Carroll of Ireland’s Data Protection Commission spoke (Silicon Republic). Alongside the summit, the Antigranular open-source community platform and the ObliviousAI GitHub organisation make the company’s PET work publicly accessible.
Place in the Dublin AI Ecosystem
Oblivious is one of the few Dublin companies that brings the product side of privacy-enhancing technologies together with the regulatory and community side under a single roof. Spinning out of Oxford and then anchoring at NovaUCD while hosting the Eyes-Off Data Summit in Dublin gives the company a concrete place in both the technical layer and the wider ecosystem layer.
