AI for Good Accelerator: Supporting Nonprofits in Ireland

Are you a charity or nonprofit organisation operating in Ireland? If you are exploring how AI could support your work, applications are open for the AI for Good Accelerator.

Managed by Rethink Ireland, the programme is the second stage of the €1.75 million AI for Good Fund. The fund is supported by Google.org and the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht through the Dormant Accounts Fund.

Its aim is to help nonprofit organisations build the knowledge and capacity to adopt AI responsibly.

What Does the AI for Good Accelerator Offer?

The 12-month programme will support up to 30 eligible organisations through training, expert guidance and opportunities to learn from one another. Participants will develop an AI adoption roadmap tailored to their organisation’s needs.

Cash grants of up to €15,000 per organisation will also be available. The maximum amount is not guaranteed. Rethink Ireland will determine the final grant awarded to each successful applicant.

Who Can Apply?

Applicants must have an eligible not-for-profit legal structure and meet the programme’s full eligibility criteria.

Key requirements include:

  • Having identified a specific problem or gap that AI could help address.
  • Having basic digital capacity in place to adopt AI tools.
  • Committing at least two people who can participate fully in the programme.
  • Including a senior leadership team member or the board chair among those participants.

Commercial companies, sole traders and individual applicants are not eligible.

These are selected requirements rather than the complete eligibility checklist. Organisations should review all criteria on the official programme page before applying.

Application Deadline and Programme Dates

Application deadline: 9 November 2026
Planned start: Summer 2027
Programme duration: 12 months

Applications must be submitted through Rethink Ireland’s online portal. Exact programme dates remain subject to change.

Visit the official AI for Good Fund page for the application link and full eligibility criteria.

Bringing AI Knowledge to More Organisations

While following Ireland’s AI ecosystem, I find it encouraging to see support reaching organisations working across different communities.

Adopting AI involves choosing suitable tools, identifying a useful problem to solve, developing staff skills and preparing for responsible use.

The AI for Good Accelerator’s focus on that preparation makes it an initiative worth following. I’m interested to see how participating organisations turn their learning into practical benefits for the communities they serve.
